World Market?
Main Post:
Have you been in the World Market? We are World Market fans, but what an insane experience today. I received a 25% flash sale coupon, and needed some filler art for the dining room. There is a blue textile art piece that fit the spot at World Market.
After checking online to see that they had it (1 remaining in Bozeman, the site promised), we went to pick it up. Bizarrely, when checking out, the cashier said she needed to check to see if they "had more". This is a piece of art in a bin among many others up front, with no indicator that it is a "display piece" (this is not museum art, we're talking $150 here). Turns out, this one is the only one remaining (which is fine, as that is also what the website said and encouraged us to "pickup today"). She therefore... couldn't sell it to us?
This is not fault of the cashier, who was perfectly pleasant, so we asked to speak to an assistant manager. Who was remarkably rude and explained she "didn't sell her displays" and "I wouldn't sell that furniture over there". Again, fine, because we don't want furniture... we want this cheap piece of art. She told us that if she sold it, how could she sell it to someone else, and did we check online? Yes, yes, we did, which is why we are now in your store. How are you ever going to sell it to anyone, if you're not willing to part with it? There were no apologies and in fact she seemed baffled that we would expect to be able to purchase art. (Though we've done this in no fewer than five other World Markets without issue.)
We had a similar issue in this store trying to purchase a lamp, which we found odd, but relented... and did try to order it online, but the order was cancelled. I think this may just be a dud of a World Market (it also feels a bit chaotic and disorganized), but curious if I'm just in the wrong here?
Top Comment: The idea that they wouldn’t sell it to you because then they couldn’t sell it to anyone else it pretty insane. Seems like a Monty Python sketch.

do you know when assembly is going to open their world market?
Top Comment: Back when I was a lad, those were called "Cost Plus:World Market" but then again, we also listened to CDs and wore baggy jeans.

I'm obsessed with world market food section. I get all my abnormal snacks that you can't get at a normal grocery store. I'm moving to buffalo and it seems like they don't have one. Any shops similar where I can find my unusual snacks?
Top Comment: I would say for the more “bougie” stuff you could get at World Market, Premier Gourmet might have some good options. As for snacks, the Asia Mall on Niagara Falls Blvd has a really great selection of chips, crunchy things, sweets, and is a great grocery store to boot!
Today was my first time going to World Market and all I gotta say is wow!

Appalling experience at World Market on 280
Main Post:
A few days ago, I went to World Market on 280 to pick up some flavored syrup with my girlfriend. The woman at checkout was extremely rude. I could hear her yelling across the store before we got there and she even rolled her eyes when my girlfriend stopped before the checkout to see which drinks were in the cooler.
Nothing too unusual at this point, but when I got to checkout, she impatiently said "scan this QR code and get 15% off." Without thinking much, I scanned it to see what would pop up. I was surprised when it took me to my messaging app with a prefilled message that started with "I consent to sign up..." Before I could say "no thanks," she reached for my phone and forcefully said "just press this button," instructing me to send the message. I declined repeatedly and she lectured me about learning to save money, telling stories about how much money she had saved at Winn-Dixie by using coupons.
As she was talking, I noticed something on that same poster about signing up for a credit card. Surely I'm misunderstanding because it's hard to believe I could have consented for that so easily.
After repeatedly declining, the store phone went off. She took the call and rudely flagged another employee to finish checking me out. He didn't say a word and looked very uncomfortable. He was moving so quickly, he forgot to scan one of the syrups. Looks like I got 15% off anyway. ̄\\_(ツ)_/ ̄
Anyone else had weird experiences like this? Honestly, I love World Market, but I was so shocked by this, I don't think I'll go back to this location.
Edit: just want to add that she looked very shocked when I declined and said "why not?" / "it's free money." She seemed very angry and wouldn't look at me after taking the call. It's no big deal, but I really don't like being forced into something and patronized when I repeatedly decline.
Top Comment: Never had that experience. All the cashiers I’ve had are really nice.

I just moved to a new area and I’m so intrigued by the world market here. Does anyone have experience with their quality? I’m assuming the furniture isn’t good but I’m curious about dishware
Top Comment: Not good housewares, but a good place to get international foods, specially marzipan around Xmas.
Has anyone purchased furniture from World Market?
Main Post:
I'm looking for a bed frame. I found one that I like but I am wondering if it's made of quality materials. Also wondering if the stores carry the product too. Anyone!?

Top Comment: I can't speak to that particular bed, but a lot of their furniture feels a bit flimsy to me.
